Offering Annual Scholarships to Deserving Students

The Ed. Foundation Scholarship

The Ed. Foundation Scholarship is awarded to a college-bound senior based on an essay about the impact of The Ed. Foundation on their educational experience in Port Washington.

[The Don Schaefer Scholarship, which was discontinued in 2023, was awarded to a graduating senior who had planned to study engineering or technology in college, based on an essay about their experience in these fields at Schreiber High School.]

Eligibility

The Ed. Foundation Scholarship

The Ed. Foundation awards one scholarship annually in the amount of $500 to a graduating Schreiber senior. All college-bound seniors are eligible, with the exception of relatives of current Ed. Foundation board members and advisors who are excluded from applying.

Applicants will utilize the Schreiber High School Common Scholarship Application. Since this scholarship is not need-based, the FAFSA form is not required. Applicants must be in academic good standing, must provide transcript, activity sheet, and/or resume, and a one-page essay in response to the following question:

How has The Ed. Foundation affected your educational experience in Port Washington?

Your response could include information regarding any Ed. Foundation grants, an experience at The Ed. Foundation Support Center, the impact of technology in your classroom, participation on a trip that was funded by the Foundation, participation on the Junior Board, etc.

Recipient(s) of The Ed. Foundation Scholarship will be announced in June at the annual Community Scholarship awards night at Schreiber.
