Offering Annual Scholarships to Deserving Students

The Ed. Foundation Scholarships

The Ed. Foundation offers two annual scholarships for college-bound Schreiber seniors:

The Ed. Foundation Scholarship is awarded to a senior based on an essay about the impact of The Ed. Foundation on their educational experience in Port Washington.

The Don Schaefer Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is planning to study engineering or technology in college, based on an essay about their experience in these fields at Schreiber.

The Ed. Foundation

Eligibility

The Ed. Foundation Scholarship

The Ed. Foundation awards one scholarship annually in the amount of $500 to a graduating Schreiber senior. All college-bound seniors are eligible, with the exception of relatives of current Ed. Foundation board members and advisors who are excluded from applying.

Applicants will utilize the Schreiber High School Common Scholarship Application. Since this scholarship is not need-based, the FAFSA form is not required. Applicants must be in academic good standing, must provide transcript, activity sheet, and/or resume, and a one-page essay in response to the following question:

How has The Ed. Foundation affected your educational experience in Port Washington?
Your response could include information regarding any Ed. Foundation grants, an experience at The Ed. Foundation Support Center, the impact of technology in your classroom, participation on a trip that was funded by the Foundation, participation on the Junior Board, etc.

Don Schaefer Scholarship

As a token of appreciation for Mr. Schaefer’s commitment and contributions to Schreiber students, a college scholarship in the amount of $500 has been established in his honor, endowed by the Eule and Janis families. The scholarship will be awarded to a college-bound Schreiber senior who demonstrates a passion for technology and the values embodied by Mr. Schaefer.

All college-bound seniors are eligible, with the exception of relatives of current Ed. Foundation board members and advisors who are excluded from applying. Applicants will utilize the Schreiber High School Common Scholarship Application.

Since this scholarship is not need-based, the FAFSA form is not required. Applicants must be in academic good standing, must provide transcript, activity sheet, and/or resume, and responses to the following questions:

  1. Describe a technology project you worked on at Schreiber and what you learned from the experience. AND, either essay 2 or 3:2.
  2. Tell us about your future plans to pursue a career in technology. Or3.
  3. How will technology play a role in your career plans?

Recipients of The Ed. Foundation Scholarship and the Don Schaefer Scholarship will be announced in June at the annual Community Scholarship awards night at Schreiber.
